Bleah

I'M SITTING AT HOME TODAY. Just after downing my morning breakfast (meds, coffee) I made a mad dash for the head.

I have no idea what caused this, possibly Saturday's cereal. It's the only thing my housemate and I haven't eaten in common this weekend.

Bleah. Bleah. Bleah.

Katie's gone to work and there's nobody to whinge at. The damn cats ignore me unless they want attention (as in a certain striped spotted one at 04:15 this morning).

So, you poor sods that read this get the job by default.

Somewhat more cheerfully, hope every one had a good holiday, I did.

Update Time

IT'S BEEN A WHILE since I updated this thing.

Then again, there hasn't been much going on other than daily life. Visits by friends, a birthday for my daughter, phone calls and photos from my son in Iraq.

Finally got the dryer repaired and felt pleased (in an odd way) that the repair was, indeed, beyond my knowledge to make -- a fuse and a heat sensor had died, they weren't the type I could readily obtain. So we're now not limited to the Mk. 1 Mod. 2 clothes dryer and fair weather, nor at the mercy of the local laundromat.

Ugly, functional shelving will soon be built and installed in the basement. The key word is functional. The good news is that plywood has dropped somewhat in price since I designed the unit. We'll discover how good the "premium" carbide blade is that was purchased for the sidewinder. My suspicion is that I'll finish the edging of the shelves with a plane. Pigs will be butchered at the start of next month and a sizable quantity of milk-fed pork will make it into our freezer. I am to provide sharp knives and grunt power.

Unloading the back of the truck produced the pleasant surprise of a bottle of Calvados that had lain there, forgotten and unloved. Just in time for cold weather. :)

Most of the leaves from our apple trees and the neighbours' oaks and maples have managed to fall and, as usual, wind up in our yard for final disposal. There must be a cold spell coming up, the squirrels and birds have made short work of the grain I put out Saturday.

There you have it, live in the megalopolis of Roanoke.
